Silly Lady Novelists?
We had a very successful launch on 21st October in London of our latest title from the Rack Press Editions imprint: Silly Lady Novelists? by Michèle Roberts. You can see an image of the cover over to the right here. This is the third title in the “little green book” series which offers short form elegantly provocative writing and you can order this now.
What kind of novels should women write? Should anyone be prescribing the answer to such a question? In a lively and polemical response to George Eliot’s famous Westminster Review essay of 1856 “Silly Novels by Lady Novelists”, novelist, poet and critic Michèle Roberts offers a challenging examination of current debates around fiction and sex.
Michèle Roberts has written 13 novels and is Professor Emerita at the University of East Anglia. She lives in South London and her new novel is The Walworth Beauty.
The book also contains some original artwork by Michèle Roberts

Praise for “Hooligans" by Katrina Naomi
A very nice review in the new issue of Lunar Poetry of Katrina Naomi’s pamphlet Hooligans by Gram Joel Davies
Hooligans is a timely book, hopefully a timeless one. A small collection which distils everyday heroism to a courageous liquor. While today, celebrity speakers chauvinistically urge us to spurn our voting rights, voices raised from the past still mock, argue, insist – and refuse to be quieted. Thanks to Naomi’s work, names which have become museum pieces are made personal again, their dismissal as unconscionable now as ever before.
Well-deserved, we say. It can be ordered online here.
